Context. 

Motional is an autonomous vehicle joint venture between automaker Hyundai Motor Grop and automotive technology supplier Aptiv.

At Motional, I work in the RVA (Remote Vehicle Assistance) team. 

Role.

I am currently a product designer on RVA and I work in a team consisting of a lead designer, 3 PMs, 5+ engineers, a human factors researcher, and a user researcher. 

RVA CONTEXT

RVA or "Remote Vehicle Assistance," is a software designed to empower trained agents in remotely assisting driverless vehicles in scenarios where autonomy falls short.

Currently, I am involved in the creation of tools that allow agents to send a range of commands to the AV (For example, drawing a path around obstacles). These features demand careful consideration of usability and safety, undergoing rigorous testing and thoughtful processing before implementation. My responsibilities also involve creating highly interactive prototypes for user testing, evaluating feasibility, safety, and technical constraints while developing safe workarounds.

Since joining RVA, I also co-created the entire design system with another designer. Given the pioneering nature of this product and the first-of-its-kind features, the component design involves innovative thinking and meticulous consideration.
